I want everyone I care about to practice safe habits in their homes, during this time of caution. I came across an article by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) entitled, “Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Home.” I wanted to share a few points, but I encourage you to read the entire article.
How to Clean and Disinfect
· Wear disposable gloves.
· Clean high touch surfaces with warm soap and water, then use a disinfectant on those surfaces.
High touch surfaces include:
· Tables Doorknobs Light switches
· Countertops Handles Desks
· Phones Keyboards Toilets
· Faucets Sinks
Use EPA-registered household disinfectants
· Diluted household bleach solutions may also be used. (see article for further instructions)
Clean Hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds
· If using hand sanitizer, make sure it contains at least 60% alcohol
· Additionally, clean hands after:
Blowing nose, coughing, sneezing Using restroom
Before eating and preparing food After contact with pets
Before and after caring for another person
When someone is sick
· If possible, they should use a separate bedroom and bathroom
· Allow them to eat in their room
