It’s not easy dealing with the loss of someone you loved. Some find it harder to adjust and create a new normal. I read an article that provided some healthy insight. Here are my notes from the article.
Hosting a funeral or memorial service can help you:
Reflect.
Remember their life.
Say goodbye.
Learning how to cope with the loss of someone you love dearly after the funeral is over and after the guests have gone is important for your well-being. It’s okay and normal to grieve, but don’t stay in sorrow. Your loved one would want you to find a way to continue-on and find happiness. Life is short, so find meaning, love, peace, comfort, and enjoyment.
You can celebrate their memory and find healing in different ways. Here are a few suggestions from the article.
Write a letter to them and say the things you always wanted to say.
Create a photo album or a playlist of their favorite songs.
Plant a flower or tree in their honor that you will nurture.
Donate to a charity or create a scholarship in their honor.
Light a candle.
Visit a place or go to a show/event you both enjoyed.
